Egan080's Review and Opinion: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, which premiered on May 19, 2005, is to the Prequel Trilogy what Return of the Jedi was to the Classic, the third act of a three-act drama.
Though it doesn't end the Star Wars narrative - there's an 18-year-long gap between the end of this film and the next one in the saga - it does draw the curtain down on the origins story behind Darth Vader, the Galactic Empire, and the galaxy as we first saw it in that first (now fourth) film way back in 1977.
And even though the story falls flat in the scenes between Anakin Skywalker and his secret wife Padme Amidala, now carrying (unbeknown to Anakin and Palpatine) Luke and Leia in her womb, the movie dovetails nicely with the Classic Trilogy's storyline, and echoes of some situations and even dialogue from Return of the Jedi appear in this Skywalker-becomes-Vader-at-last tale of betrayal and heroism, love and hate, and the struggle between good and evil.

The effects didn't even get an Oscar nod, but the film deserved to be nominated for best effects. |

This is a tricky issue. We know where the story is headed, but there are a few things we didn't know would happen. |

Realism is never a Star Wars strong suit, but it works out okay. |

Was Natalie Portman bored with the role? She's a good actress, but it doesn't show much here. |

Darker than the other Star Wars films, this one is the best of the Prequels. |
